SmartArt! 

Part #1

Open a blank Word and save as "Last First Name Period SMARTART"

Pick an academic topic that you can visually represent using SmartArt in Microsoft Word!  It  should be a topic/main idea that you can “break down” like an outline.  It may be helpful to  look through a textbook.   

Topic/Main Idea Examples (do not use):

• The 4 P’s of Marketing:  Product, Price, Promotion, Placement 
• Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs: Physiological, Safety, Social, Esteem, Self‐Actualization 
• Marketing Plan:  Product, Target Market, Competition, Marketing Budget,  Location,  Pricing Strategy, Promotion, Distribution   

Choose an appropriate SmartArt diagram to represent your information.  Format the SmartArt  diagram as necessary.  Consider:

• Experimenting with different (appropriate) layouts
• Changing colors
• Formatting the shape
• Formatting the WordArt
• Resizing the diagram 

Whatever formatting changes you make, be sure that the information is READABLE.  Sometimes  LESS is MORE.  The document should fit on one page. 

Change the color scheme of your SmartArt and resize to fit the entire page. 

Part #2   

Insert a page break and do part 2 on the second page

Pick a topic that you can visually represent a SmartArt diagram with PICTURES (and text) in  Microsoft Word!  It should be a topic/main idea that you can “break down” like an outline.    

Topic/Main Idea Examples (do not use):

• Twilight Characters: Bella Edward, Jacob, Alice, Carlisle, Esme, etc. Include image of each and a short description of each character.
• The Outsiders: Pony Boy, Sodapop, Two-Bit, Steve, Dallas, Sandy, Cherry, Marcia, Etc. Include images and a short description of each character.
• The Brady Bunch Children: Greg, Peter, bobby, Marcia, Jan, Cindy. Include image of each child and give a brief description of their personality.
• Sport Team, Band, TV Show (all okay to use)

After choosing your topic, find and save images online that you want to use in your SmartArt diagram, You cannot insert Clipart; you can only use images you have saved (save the image in your H: drive folder).

Choose and appropriate SmartArt Diagram that uses pictures to represent your information. Format the SmartArt diagram as necessary. Consider:

• Experimenting with different (appropriate) layouts
• Change colors
• Formatting the shape
• Formatting the WordArt
• Resizing the Diagram
• Change page layout

Part #3

Insert a page break and do part 3 on the third page.

This SmartArt is totally up to you.

Choose any topic you want.

Choose any design you want as long as it has not be used previously.

Create your SmartArt in any fashion you like but you must show the following:

• Addition of shapes to default
• Change of colors
• Change of text
• Change of size
• Change of position on page
