Along side Karima, Dominé was hired by EOYDC during the pandemic outbreak in 2019/2020 to build and the college program for students. With her drive of creativity managing style her and Karima both built a program that has now sent over dozens of young Black Teens to some of the BEST schools in America. From class of 2021 to 2025.Taking these kids on college tours with no charge on the students., workshops, guest speakers, internships, and many more opportunities. Me being included. Dominé works side by side to build those bonds, also setting up events and these tours that kids are able to take and withhold information that can take our lives to places some of us never thought to see.

Our Personal Connection

I met Dominé in summer of 2023 going into my sophomore year. When I first seen her with her bright ginger hair I thought she was really chill. When I was first introduced to her I signed up for the PTC2 program and had a small conversation with her and Karima.August of that year I attend my first workshop with her and Karima it was almost an instant connection.Ever since i’ve been in her skin lol. Dominé has made such a sister and motherly impact on me,she became my mentor but also family to me. There isn’t anything going on in my life she doesn’t know. I trust her with my life quite literally. She has helped me change all my “I can’t, this is stressful,I don’t know’s,” to “ I can, just take it a day at a time, I know’s.” I didn’t truly know what a mentor was until I joined the PTC2 program. A mentor is more than something academic.A mentor can be someone you can cry to, and talk to and get real raw advice from someone who genuinely wants to see you evolve academically but also as a human being. Thanks to Dominé and Karima I know that and experienced that.Words can not explain the impact Dominé has made on me and how much I cherish and appreciate her. I don’t have many role models in my life at all, just people I don’t want to be like, but I can 100% say Dominé is someone who is a true role model to me. I love my girl forever and am overly appreciative of the things she does and continues to do for me. And because of her help I will be walking the stage in May 2026 graduating and hopefully also attending Fisk University to make her as proud as she makes me.

Lesson and Takeaways

My biggest lesson I've learned from Dominé is how to study! You're never a bad test taker. I just didn't know how to study. There was a point in time of my junior year where I was academically torn down because “I didn’t know how to test,” and the teacher I had wasn’t the best at support. She helped teach me to study and Karima built a plan for me to follow through with. With their help I passed junior year on honor roll!
