My Granny

My grandma was born in June of 1928 in Scotland, and was the youngest of 12 kids. When she was 11 years old they all moved to Canada. During her childhood, the Great Depression really affected her and her family and so did the Cold War. When she was 17 she met the love of her life while he was 25. Together, they moved to America. She graduated nursing school and continued on to work as a registered nurse for 40 years. During this time, she had 12 kids but 2 of them were miscarriages and one was hit by a car and never survived. She lost her husband to smoking when he was 65.

When I was a kid, she'd tell me stories all the time about stuff, and I loved every single one because the way she told me them made them very interesting. Based on what she told me, I infer that my granny was an outgoing and wise person. She inspires me because she's lived through the Great Depression, having 2 miscarriages and the death of another child, and the death of her husband. But despite all that she lived so healthy that by the time she turned 95 years old she still had all of her teeth and didn't need a cane to get around and the only replacements with metal she had were her knees. And she was just an overall wise and happy person that was the same height as me and none of her other grandkids were as short as me or as young as me.
