Childhood Stories
I had a very fun childhood! I still am technically in the process of finishing the end of my childhood/juvenile hood, but what I have had as a child was more than I could ask for. I will include funny stories from when I was a kid and lessons I learned!
Earliest Memories
When I was around 3-4, I remember having a dirt ball fight with my siblings. We lived on a ranch until I was 7, and we had horses and a few chickens. We had a quarter of an acre, and a big yard. My sister had this bright idea of having a dirtball fight since we didn’t live in an area that snowed (Bakersfield). It was really fun and when my parents came home it was a mix of laughter and concern because by the end of the game we were all covered in mud and dirt from head to toe.
I remember when I was 4-5, I visited my grandparents in Mexico and I remember vivid memories from there with my siblings. Specific memories would include:
- My 5 year old version of a quinceñera that my grandparents threw for me. I had a little purple princess dress and my grandparents invited my family from Mexico and family friends. I actually barely knew less than half the people there, but they all knew my grandparents, so they came to celebrate my birthday! There was a piñata, a giant cake, and a lot of dancing! At the time I was very fluent in Spanish, so I was a social butterfly. I also remember after the celebration my siblings both consecutively smashed my face in cake…
- I remember during that same summer, my siblings and I had a tea party on the roof of my grandparents house which was three floors tall and they built the house themselves. It was pouring and thundering while we were eating bread and sipping our water in tea cups. It was really fun.
Funny Stories
I remember when I was 8, I thought I could cut my own bangs, and when I did it was horrid! My brother told me my forehead looked like a barcode, and I ended up having to go to school with my new haircut. It ended up growing out months later, but I learned to never cut my bangs ever again.
I remember when I was 9 I got my first dog, her name is Cassie and I still have her now. She came from the pound and we got her when she was two. She still is with us and is currently 10 years old. The first day she came to our house, she peed on the carpet and I managed to clean it before my mom found out…
